Part F: AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) Program

The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Part F AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) Program is a national network of HIV care experts who provide health care providers with:

  • Tailored education and training on HIV-related topics (e.g., basics of testing and prevention, complex care of patients)
  • Clinical consultation
  • Technical assistance

What is the goal of the AETC Program?

The goal is to strengthen the HIV workforce by:

  • Increasing the number of health care providers educated and motivated to counsel, diagnose, treat, and medically manage people with HIV
  • Helping to prevent behaviors that lead to HIV transmission by educating providers on how to counsel patients

What does the AETC Program include?

The AETC Program serves all 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and the 6 U.S. Pacific Jurisdictions. The Program includes:

The AETC Program includes the National HIV Curriculum (NHC), a free online curriculum. The NHC provides up-to-date HIV care training and continuing education credits for health professionals. The AETC Program also supports the integration of the curriculum nationwide into multiple health professions’ academic and training institutions.

The AETC Program uses Minority HIV/AIDS Funds to support the Building the HIV Workforce and Strengthening Engagement in Communities of Color (B-SEC) Project to leverage minority serving institutions (MSIs) to educate and train students in HIV care and treatment and reduce stigma.
