Riester: However, I am almost certain that I have lived with HIV since the very beginning. Ryan White himself impacted my life. I saw what he was doing at his young age.W

Riester: I have seen it help others with financial assistance, and the work that I do now, I see it impact the lives of people every single day.

Riester: I had some…I was on the early drugs, all of which were kind of…well, they were difficult to take, but once the medications changed, I was able to get on newer and better medications, and that changed my life, my physical well-being and look. And then I started to look to see how I could help out here in Denver, in my hometown.

Riester: As an HIV advocate, we are a fairly close-knit group of people, and we all have our different passions, so I would suggest that people follow their passions, follow their hearts. But get to know yourself, get to know what is affecting you. That’s the best thing you can do for you.

Riester: And just be yourself. My life today is quite extraordinary. Being involved in my community has been a phenomenal gift.
